Gene Dietrich Leadership Award

Purpose

To create an award that recognizes outstanding contributions to the Wyoming Fire Service through selfless leadership, safer communities, and active participation in the Association. This award is named in Honor of Chief Gene Dietrich’s outstanding and lengthy contributions to the Leadership of the WYFCA, Newcastle VFD, and many other organizations and causes.

Eligibility

Current, Past or Lifetime member of the Wyoming Fire Chiefs’ Association

Selection

The Board of Directors may select a nomination on a majority vote. The selection criteria may include longevity of leadership, quality of leadership, initiatives led to enhance the Wyoming Fire Service, leadership at Local, State and National levels, and character. The Board of Directors through a majority vote may select any number of worthy candidates, if the Board of Directors do not feel any nominations meet the above threshold the award will not be given at that time.

Process for Nomination

Any current, former or lifetime member may submit a nomination for a deserving member to the Secretary/Treasurer of the Wyoming Fire Chiefs’ Association. The submission shall be in narrative form but must include key contributions to the Fire Service, Wyoming Fire Chiefs’ Association, and other supporting evidence of leadership at the Local, State or National level. Supporting documents or endorsements from allied associations, agencies or departments will be accepted and considered as well.

The timeline for review, decision points, and award will be at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Once a decision in the affirmative or the negative has been reached, the Secretary/Treasurer will communicate that decision to the individual who submitted the nomination. The Board of Directors in consultation with the nominating individual will determine a time, place, or event to bestow the award to the deserving individual.
